FiLiA Webinar: In Defence of the Equality Act

A Hague Mother’s Vigil
Please support a mother’s protest against the Hague-enabled loss of her daughter. ‘My name is S, a survivor, now a Hague mother but forever my child’s mother. I will no longer stay silenced to protect my assailant, and no new ramifications can ever be greater than what I’ve experienced behind doors and the pain of my child being taken away from me so inhumanely and unlawfully. I will be standing courageously, with the fear of retaliation directed at me and my child in a long battle to contradict the false narrative presented in my abuser’s country’s court, and to defend the violation of my child’s rights and the violation of my parental rights.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., I have planned a small vigil. It will begin with a quiet prayer to express the bereavement-like state and the grief that we Hague mothers live with. We will hold LED candles throughout.’

Details of the Vigil:
When: Tuesday 27th October 2026
Where: Outside the Greek Embassy,
1A Holland Park, London, W11 3TP
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you can support S’s protest on 27th, even if only for a short time, please let Ruth Dineen know at hague@filia.org.uk, and she will share S’s email so you can contact her directly to introduce yourself and let her know to expect you.

FiLiA Webinar: In Defence of the Equality Act
Less than a week to go before our next webinar, In Defence of the Equality Act, which has been extended and now finishes at 8 p.m.!

The Equality Act has been getting a bad rap in some quarters, with talk of repealing it and all the protections it provides to Women. On Thursday 22nd October, at 6.30 p.m., join Akua Reindorf KC, Professor Mary Davis and Audrey Ludwig MBE as they discuss the Equality Act, its importance to Women’s rights, both up to now and in the future, and why – even though it’s not perfect – we must be proactive in using it and defending it.
